When Im done I put on some John Cage xylophone music from the 40's and walk across it barefoot and grin. Booty calls come at 5pm on Friday afternoon. My passport is expired and I will leisurely renew it by spring to forgoe the service fee for rush jobs and take a pleasant holiday a few months later. I am calm, reasonable, and can understand why you would hold the opinions that you do.

Art vs Math

Scan Processor Studies (excerpts pt.1) from Brian O'Reilly on Vimeo.

What are Feelings?

I've been trying to really define what a feeling is for weeks now (like in a Kant and Hume sort of way) and havent really gotten anywhere. Certainty and similar states of knowing what we know arise out of involuntary brain mechanisms that, like love or anger, function independently of reason."

-- Neuroscientist Robert Burton

Apparently turning away from the cuddly blanket of your preconceptions can have adverse effects on your sanity. From the Wikipedia article on Certainty:

"Al-Ghazali was a professor of philosophy in the 11th century. His book titled The Incoherence of the Philosophers marks a major turn in Islamic epistemology, as Ghazali effectively discovered philosophical skepticism that would not be commonly seen in the West until René Descartes, George Berkeley and David Hume. He described the necessity of proving the validity of reason- independently from reason. He attempted this and failed. The doubt that he introduced to his foundation of knowledge could not be reconciled using philosophy. Taking this very seriously, he resigned from his post at the university, and suffered serious psychosomatic illness. It was not until he became a religious sufi that he found a solution to his philosophical problems, which are based on Islamic religion; this encounter with skepticism led Ghazali to embrace a form of theological occasionalism, or the belief that all causal events and interactions are not the product of material conjunctions but rather the immediate and present will of God."

Link

</sarcasm>

(Insert sophmoric yet witty sarcastic comment about sarcasm here. Saying the opposite of what you mean is considered rude and disrespectful, and the Jamaicans I tried it with took me literally and stared wide-eyed at me with every attempt because they were so unfamiliar which such ritual acts of passive-aggression. Yesterday I also found out it was one of the "Four Horsemen of Doomed Relationships" from a co-worker (link). Im now grateful to a certain person in my life for prohibiting it early on in our relationship. I have to say that when I stopped doing it before, I only did it out of a rote and mechanical understanding that if I didnt stop it would be trouble from her and had some vague idea that she didnt like it for some reason. The song seemed simple enough when he first presented it to his bandmates, but it soon became impossibly difficult to learn: while they were practising it, Barrett kept changing the arrangement. He would then play it again, with the arbitrary changes, and sing "Have you got it yet?". Eventually they realised they never would and that they were simply bearing the brunt of Barrett's idiosyncratic sense of humour.

What an asshole. This is why I adored LSD for so many years. Love it.
it's propensity and ubiquity mooshed together but wikipedia says it comes from a Latin word. It has been known to lead to limerance. The thing about limerance seems to be that once it starts there's no way to stop it. Its an avalanche. You'd think a little distance would cure it, but its a paradox. And oh, the intrusive thoughts.

Who is Accountable for Your Dreams?

<embed src="http://www.theonion.com/content/themes/common/assets/onn_embed/embedded_player.swf"type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" width="430" height="430"flashvars="image=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theonion.com%2Fcontent%2Ffiles%2Fimages%2FDREAMS_TOO_VIOLENT_article.jpg&videoid=94640&title=Should%20We%20Be%20Doing%20More%20To%20Reduce%20The%20Graphic%20Violence%20In%20Our%20Dreams%3F">
Should We Be Doing More To Reduce The Graphic Violence In Our Dreams?

More Tiga Genius

Digital Speed Painting

There's lots of these on YouTube but I really like this one.
